DESIGNFENZIDER
The name that stands behind Designfenzider studio is Ron Gilad. Born in Israel in 1972, he now lives in New York where nine years ago he established his studio. Since then he has been creating furniture and home objects which are provocative, interesting and always border on the line between the abstract and the functional. What the designer is interested in is the philosophical outlook on everyday objects and most of all, thinking of them beyond their practical use. The result is products created with minimum amount of money and a touch of playfulness, which require an emotional and intellectual reaction from the person who uses them.
“The process of translating ideas into three dimensional functional objects is something that has always intrigued me.
I am not inventing anything new, basing my thinking, research, and creative process on what I see, know, and what already exists. Almost naively I ask the question, why is it like this?” Gilad borrowed ideas for his works from the history of art and design and we can discover he found inspiration in Rene Magritte, Giorgio de Chirico, Marcel Duchamp, and the great names of Italian design Enzo Mari and the Castiglioni brothers. Deslgnfenzider’s works vary from unique items to limited series and can be found in public and private collections ail over the world.
