Stairs are one of those special elements in a house that I admire. I have always dreamt about a large house with large entry hall and a spectacular staircase coming down from the second floor with majestic ornaments, marble railings and luxurious steps. Of course, this is only a dream!
But when we have to think about the staircases, we often miss one very practical item, that can be also used as decorative accent – the stair runners.
Stair Runners and their function
I must outline that they can not only add a stylish and interesting note in your home interior, but they can be really handy. For example, one of the greatest applications for stair runners is their ability to prevent the step surface of damage and wear. The other very practical application of the runners are that they simply absorb all kind of noise, especially if we are going upstairs with your shoes and the surface is one of those that make really bad noise and can disturb the rest of the occupants in the house.
In order to choose the best runner for your place, you need to know that there are two options. The first one is to match the color of the runners with your are rugs – no need to match the patterns, though. Your other option is to choose a different color – of course, everything depends on the rest of the interior, of course.
The next essential thing to know is that when placing the runners at your stairs there is no need to fulfill every gap on the step! It is enough (and actually you have to know this before buying the runners) to leave 4 inches on both sides so that the runners can visually take the central part of the staircase without completely hiding it.
In the visual examples here I hope that you will find the idea that will best fit your home interior.
