Sofas are great pieces of furniture because they can break the strict lines in an interior and refresh the way a particular room looks. They are also great because they are not only functional sitting furniture but they also provide space for additional decorations – like cushions, pillows, small tables with artifacts placed aside, etc. Additionally, you can set the center of a living room and in the center should be the sofa. In modern homes it is very common to see a small or large coffee table in front of the sofa, depending on the available space in the living room. Just in front of the coffee table, there is usually a TV set which in most cases is hanged on the opposite wall. This is just a perfect setting for a modern home. Now, having in mind the size of the room, you can use modern sofas in two ways:
1. Place the sofa against the wall and in front of it – the coffee table and TV set. This method is usually applied in smaller flat or condo rooms where there is lack of spaciousness. 2. Place modern sofas in the center of the room facing a wall without windows. This method can be used to visually separate two functional areas in a living room – one for decorations (behind the sofa) and one for everyday activities (drinking coffee, having a quick snack, watching TV, browsing internet). The second one is the space in front of the sofa. So, if you live in a large mansion or luxurious house and you have plenty of space, this second option will be more suitable for you. In the images here I have collected some really inspirational images that I hope will touch you just the same way they did with me. There are some amazing Italian designs as well as some truly contemporary or Scandinavian examples. Mid-century pieces are also available, just watch out for them! Personally, I really like the art decor upholsteries which can be matched with natural colored interiors with passive presence. Thus, the sofas stand out and create a focal point in the living room.
