In Lakeville, Connecticut, the USA government have taken care of the environment and reduced pollution by 90% by creating an ecological factory – the Hotchkiss Biomass Power Plant.
So, how the Power Plant functions? Its cutting edge technologies allow to reduce the total sulfur dioxide emissions by 90%! This is possible because the energy used for producing heat is not gained from the traditional fuel oil, but locally sourced wood chips. This saves more than 150 000 gallons of oil that when burned emit toxic waste in the air.
One of the most amazing features of the building is the golf course, situated nearby. Actually, this is a clever move form the architects. They used some marketing strategies, especially PR, in order to outline the eco-friendly character of the Power Plan by placing a sports facility nearby.
