Let’s look today on the 17h floor of beautiful residential tower in one of the suburbs of Mumbai, India. It is called Malad. While some of the residents are wondering what the heck is going on up there, we will show you right away. During the night you can see them glow brightly in every color of the rainbow. Every night all the rooms are bathed in different color – blue, green, orange – wherever your mood is.
The design for this cool contemporary LED-packed apartment, is made by architect Sonali Shah. The owners are two local textile merchants along with their kids. Shah purposely chose white interior everywhere so to be able to play with lighting. Not accidentally many people think that this apartment is a nightclub. Daytime we see how beautiful the sunshine is casting fresh patterns on the stylish white backdrop. But over the night the LEDs flood every room in wherever color you like.
This spacious four bedroom home was completely different at first place. Shah replanned the whole unit. As she wanted to connect the dining and living rooms, she decide to rely on open space. The rooms also look visually connected thanks to the LEDs that are hidden in grooves on the ceiling. Thus they create a stylish graphic pattern.
Her specialty is to bath every possible white reflective material in cool light.
Shah began designing most of her projects in white, because the space looks bigger. She had experienced that while doing her own apartment. When she discovered that the reflection of more light creates the feeling of more space.
Another typical habit of the architect is to play with shadows. We definitely see it in this project. The wall lights send back a graphic patterned shadow of the chandelier, exuding the chrome-dipped blown glass, the one that hangs above the table.
Through the space we see a running strip of Corian with a stylish graphic pattern.
The colors can be changed thanks to the remote control. With it the owners can change the look and feel of the room according to their mood. They have seven different options: red, violet, orange, green, blue, indigo or yellow.
The dining area is consisted of a table and eight seats. Shah bed on transparency for the top and the chairs, because she wanted to achieve not too heavy look.
The stylish rear room could be used as for a lounge or playing cards, but it can also become a modern guest bedroom if you like.
When the sun moves during the day, the stylish textured backdrop is playing with the shadow. Even the furniture is taking part of this shadow game onto the white glazed floor.
Shah insisted on more clear colors in the living room, because she has already added a lot of lighting and shadows. In this room we have a modern color palette created by small pieces of red, chrome and black. The chrome piece of the interior is taken from the laser-cut diamond-shape steel coffee table.
Exactly in front of the entrance, the guests had a close meeting with the stylish chandelier of glazed silver balls. But the main purpose of it is just art installation. A dramatic look is added by the curved wall.
During the day, the clean white backdrop changes its shape patterns.
The curved wall is made by acrylic and it is cut into a beautiful dramatic textures.
Thanks to the creative play with the lighting and having some of the side rooms lit, during the night the owner can enjoy one surreal atmosphere.
In the kitchen we see one design which is coordinated with the Indian traditions that spices, tea, sugar, coffee and etc. need to be located at one hand distance. The design look very fun and graphical because of the decision of Shah for cylindrical storage containers.
A creative roll-down shade through a pattern into the modern white master bedroom. There is also another shade that is placed between the bed and shower so it could be possible to watch TV from the shower.
The master bathroom occupy small space and for one unique appearance a subway-map-recalling stylish graphic is added that doesn’t take up any place.
Let’s move to the daughter room where we see a beautiful storage wall decorated with forms of crystals. Around the bed there are stylish dripping cotton strings that create a cool shadow on the floor.
Daytime the room have one clean, crisp and with stylish subtle shadow lines look.
Smart lighting play make the room completely different during the night.
In other part of the room we see a modern roll-down display portrait. Near to the bed there is a lighting glass-covered niche where the daughter store her favorite toys.
There is a bathroom in the daughter’s room where a graphic vinyl print covering her wardrobe.
Again when we switch the lighting drastically is changed the mood in the room.
We move next to the son’s bedroom where the design stands out with green details and contemporary sofa.
We also see in his room a roll-down screen portrait. At this moment there are very popular among the teenage kids.
The green is placed in his spaceship-recalling modern bathroom.
