THE MOBILE KITCHEN
The kitchen is one of the most special places in the home. The requirements it has to meet include fulfilling both working and representative functions. That is why it is very important for the kitchen to be modern, to he nice, but also to be compact, convenient, to have ail the necessary appliances, and all that should not impede the swift movement in the kitchen. Even more, the kitchen itself should be mobile, flexible, meet the requirements with ease, and when necessary even become invisible. As it happens, it is almost never a separate room, it is usually part of the living area, which adds further to the requirements for “kitchen norms”.
In order for the kitchen to integrate with ease and be part of it, it should comply with its furnishing, and certainly not look like a working area.
All this has significantly changed the way it looks. The contemporary kitchen is compact and multifunctional – the working top swiftly and easily becomes a bar top or a table, thus making the sink and the cooker disappear. Pretty often its functions are put together in one piece of furniture with fitted appliances and cupboards. In order to be more convenient, they get opened, lifted and drawn with a light touch thanks to the electromechanic mechanisms. Their movement is swift and silent and the handles, which take space, remain in the past. This helps preserve the simple, minimalist character of the furniture and it looks even more compact. Even if the housewife is holding something in both hands, she can open any of the cupboards and drawers with just a slight touch of her body. This is how the kitchen can assist in the cooking process, in maintaining order and hygiene, and in providing a comfortable and cozy place for family meetings and entertaining guests.
The island, which rotates at 360 degrees, is in most of the cases the main, and quite often, the only piece of furniture. All appliances are fitted, their height can be regulated and all its elements can be used as working tops, bar tops and a dining table. In this way the cook can be with his guests while preparing meals and serving since everything is literally within reach.
Kitchens offer a lot; they become more convenient and easily adaptable to the individual consumer needs, mobile, dynamic and unconventional, and when not used they become a stylish part of the living area. The touch screens and the modem nanotechnologies have become a part of the kitchen. What is more, gradually they become an integral part which makes it possible for the owner to check the content of the drawers without opening them, to control the temperature at which products are kept, to get ideas about new recipes, even to listen to the news and some music. All this considerably eases the tasks the housewife has to perform in the kitchen – she no longer has to spend a lot of time doing hard work, stand unpleasant smell and do hard tasks. Instead, she spends time in a pleasant atmosphere, preparing the food in the company of her family and on the next day there are no traces or marks left telling about the party thrown the previous evening.
