THE INTERIOR OF A PLACE INFLUENCES OUR ABILITY TO PERCEIVE AND PROCESS INFORMATION AND THIS IS OF GREAT IMPORTANCE AT SCHOOL, AT UNIVERSITY, IN THE LIBRARY. ABSTRACT SHAPES INVITE US TO GO BEYOND ESTABLISHED BOUNDERIES, SYMBOLS CONTAIN A SECRET MEANING, WHICH PROVOKES OUR LOGIC, AND GAMES BRING MORE KNOWLEDGE THAN A TEACHER’S DRONING.
THE THIRD TEACHER
Interior is the third mentor after the teacher and the classmates. It is with this conviction that Baupiloten began their work on Erika Mann elementary school. In 2003 a group of students from the Technical University of Berlin transformed the first floors of the building into the exciting world of the Silver Dragon. A few years later, the school invited the young team back to further develop their idea.
This time they started by interviewing the pupils – they described how they imagined the rooms where they spent so much time, what interested them, what they lacked. The end result is a place which is equally suitable for play and relaxation
