The reality is that each year almost twenty thousand house fires occur due to the problem of faulty electrical issues. That is why it is wise to have the performance of an Electrical Installation Condition Report conducted at least every ten years. Every three to five years is even more optimal to ensure the electrical safety of your home to protect the lives of you and your loved ones.

Moreover, those who are past the age of sixty-five tend to be at a higher rate of risk for the occurrence of a house fire as a result of fault wiring issues. This is due to the fact that they live in homes that are older, which means the wiring is older and wearing out and that appliances are also much older.

People are not unconcerned about the reality of the seriousness of electrical safety issues. They simply may not have the knowledge of what to look for in order to ensure optimal electrical safety.

The good news is that there are some relatively easy things you can do yourself before you need to call an electrician. So we share seven things that you can do yourself below to ensure the electrical safety of your home. Check them out.

1. Take some time to investigate the condition of plug sockets. It is imperative to ensure that they are not damaged and that they have not endured any scorching. If you see any scorch marks, truly something is wrong with the wiring in the wall. Such a situation requires you placing a call to a certified electrician to remedy the problem.

2. It is needful to check to see that any leads or cables do not have any damage and that they have no fraying.

3. Make sure that all the lights in the ceiling are working properly and that there is no evidence of damage that is apparently visible. Also, beware that there are no buzzing sounds.

4. Investigate the socket load. Make sure that the sockets are not overburdened with cords and that there are not too many extensions leads being used.

5. Take a look at the primary fuse box to ensure that it has been fitted with a residual current device. This device should trip if it happens to detect that the circuit is being overloaded.

6. Check your lamps. Do not use a lamp if it flickers on and off, even after you have placed a new lightbulb in it. The wiring in the lamp is likely faulty and could cause a devastating fire.

7. Do not continue to use a hair dryer that has an element that turns red during usage. The hair dryer could potentially blow up.

When you conduct these simple tests, you will be able to protect your family from the risk of a serious house fire. Truly, you are greatly reducing the risk when you exercise caution in doing these tests every six months or more frequently.

If you have any commercial or residential electrical concerns, then you will want to contact a good electrician Campbelltown. Mr. Sparky has qualified electricians for all your electrical needs.
