Harri Koskinen
Harri Koskinen graduated from the University of Art and Design in Helsinki and in 1998 established his own studio, which he called Friends of industry. He turned his attention to product and conceptual design and his work was noticed from the very beginning of his career. Clients such as Artek, Cassina, Design House Stockholm, Finlandia Vodka Worldwide, littala, Magis, Issey Miyake, Panasonic and Swarovski trusted his creative sense. The author always searches for Innovative solutions that would live up to both the client’s and the manufacturer’s expectations. His ideas are practical but that is not at the expense of the aesthetics.
The ideas are often realized through familiar techniques and materials but are an attempt at stepping forward into the future. Koskinen makes an effort to keep his design simple and the result is evident. He is extremely interested in both different traditional cultures and the colorful diversity of the metropolises. Although he works with foreign companies and travels a lot, he doesn’t forget his Finnish roots. The great number of international awards he has received is recognition for the value of his work.
