When we are talking about rustic interior design, we all know the cozy atmosphere it creates with all the wooden accents. It is a kind of design that is most preferred for weekend getaways, guesthouses, mountain cottages and ski lodges . Actually, it is not a style that is typically used for everyday living, but some of the next projects will definitely crack this wide spread belief.
If we trace back the steps of the style, we come upon its roots in 1870. Of course, today’s style must be more precisely called “modern rustic” and it gained its popularity in California, USA. It is a great achievement when the designer of a certain project includes specific contemporary elements and then he adds the wooden touch in the interior. Well, there is a really thin line between what can be described as eclectic and modern rustic, but one thing is the leading factor that defines the correct classification of a place.
In case there are only little splashes of wooden elements – the style is probably eclectic. And in case that almost everything in a living area sticks to wooden objects – it is definitely rustic.
There are several things that you will find in such a place – earth tones, sustainably harvested woods, barn beams, cabinets, tables, chandeliers, bathroom vanities, doors, etc. Of course, a project can always surprise you with this little decorative elements that usually create the uniqueness of a certain place. Some of them (the projects) are really well designed in order to sustain everyday life, no matter that this is not their typical use. Once you enter the place you are attracted by the comfortable living room setting in front of a wrought iron fireplace, for example, and you immediately start painting imaginary pictures of yourself being the owner of the place. Others are more suitable for a friendly group of 8, let’s say, which is going to have their ski vacation in a famous mountain resort. There are various examples of how this types of homes can be used, but it really depends on you if are you going to devote your life to the country mountain living or you prefer to have an intimate getaway somewhere far away from your usual place of living. One thing is for sure – you won’t be able to find such homes in overcrowded urban areas.
