The city of Vitoria recently organized an idea competition and there is where this project come from. The program is considering the creation of vestured mechanical ramps. There will be four sections in Cantón de la Soledad and three more in Cantón de San Francisco Javier.
The decision for covering the ramps permits a better-guaranteed usage. We need to keep in mind the extreme winter conditions in Vitoria. The way of execution of the project will be both complex and simple. We can call it complex because of its apparent three-dimensional perception, but simple as it is invented from equal pieces, with unique space between them. The mix of stainless steel and glass portico acts alike the shots of a film. We can see that from their rotary movements around a virtual axis in sequences of one-meter distances.
The rotational movement creates the different views on different places along the way that the user perceives when he use the ramp. This connected sequence holds one’s interest all the way up. The continuous turning of the porticoes and the permanent exterior vision through the glass contributes the sensational feeling when the ramp is used. On the outside, we can observe a complex and dynamic three-dimensional figure that is created by the lines of glass that connect different positions of the porticoes. Between them there is only one portico that make the construction process simple and rational.
