If you have inside pets, you know how dirty and smelly your home can get sometimes because of these little guys. And while you might not ever really be able to get a handle on the pet hair or some of the smells that come along with indoor pets, there are things that you can do to help your home stay as clean as possible.
To help you see how this can be done, here are three tips for keeping your home clean with inside pets.
Make Regular Cleaning A Habit
The most important thing that you can do to help your home get clean and stay clean when you have indoor pets is to make regular cleaning a habit.
While people without pets might be able to get away with doing surface cleaning regularly and deep cleaning only occasionally, if you have pets living inside, you’re going to want to do deeper cleaning on a very regular basis. This should include not only cleaning the areas where your pets tend to spend the majority of their time like their beds, but also cleaning anything and everything that your pet uses or is around. This can include things like drapes, upholstery, carpeting, and more. This surface cleaning and regular deep cleaning will help to keep every space in your home cleaner despite having a pet around.
Use The Right Cleaners and Cleaning Supplies
The supplies and cleaners that you use when you have an indoor pet will have to go above and beyond the normal call of duty.
For pets that shed, you’ll want to be sure that you have a strong and reliable vacuum to get all that pet hair out of the flooring and furniture. And for pets that may have accidents around the house, you’ll want to be sure that you’re using an enzyme-based cleaner that will counteract the chemicals and smells that come along with pet urine. Otherwise, you may never be able to fully get those smells out of your home.
Clean Your Pet Before Coming Too Far Inside
To keep your pets from bringing in too much mess from their time spent outside, you’ll want to spend some time cleaning them off before they get too far inside of the house.
If you can, try to either hose them off or brush anything off of them prior to getting into the house. You can also try giving them booties to wear when spending time outdoors so that the cleaning is earlier afterwards. But the fewer outside items your pets bring back into the house, the less cleaning you’ll have to do.
If you have indoor pets, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you find ways to keep your home cleaner.
