Minimalism in Japanese style
Balance between volumes and materials in a modern home
The contemporary luxury interior design, which in most cases refers to the minimalistic style not always creates a sense of comfort in a modern home at first sight . And what is more, there is a very common fact that the mostly used colors for such kind of interiors are cold colors.
We must say that it all comes to balance between shapes, sizes, materials and decoration. We can see how this balance is created in this modern contemporary Japanese minimalist house, which authors are the designers from studio Fertility Design. The effect of comfort is significant, but after the overall perception of the interior.
The property consists of a living room, dining room with a feature of a home study, entrance-hall and bedroom. Opposing hot and cold, severity and coziness is a method of contrast that works well in the the residential minimalist concept. At the wall of the living room, the cold grey concrete color is set as a contrast element to the presence of furniture in coffee and milk colors and an ultra fluffy carpet that every visitor would desire to feel under his bare feet. Old wooden suitcases replace the traditional coffee table, successfully performing several functions at the same time – to be an additional storage for different study, to be used as a serving surface and to function as a laptop stand.A sense of warmth is created by the warm wooden floor. Mirror doors on a big wardrobe is opposing the warm and calm tones of the floor in this minimalist interior design duel. A TV set is hanging on a white wall of plasterboard above a wooden platform of a middle height.
The balcony has a direct exit from the living room. There is placed a nice modern rocking chair which creates an atmosphere of a comfortable place for relax on fresh air. The cladding of the floor in the balcony also has wood and it is responsible for the feeling for a daily living place. Natural wood is present in the interior in all rooms in this Japanese minimalist apartment in order to bring more warmth and comfort in the place. In the dining room, which can be also used as a study room, the wooden cladding is placed on several parts at the wall, and at the other half there are exposed bricks painted in white.
A big part of the furniture – shelves, tables, etc are also made of wood. A colorful accent in the pastel palette of the place is added by the red decorative pillows and the beautiful plant in the room. White and various shades of wood frame the bedroom, and an interest is provoked by the dresser formed by a high stone shelf and mirror. This is one simple and elegant Japanese minimalist apartment where the balance between volumes and materials is achieved spectacularly!
