DIY – Stool from old cable cord

Have you think sometimes that all old things around you can be recycled and turn into something great, instilling new life? We will do the same today, with the offer of a great idea for a DIY sofa from old cord. You can decorate it differently, but we have chosen to resemble it in the pattern of forest mushroom. Cute, is it? Let us now see how to exactly you can make this idea DIY.

Materials needed:

• Old and useless cords with desired size;

• Spray paint;

• Upholstery stapler;

• Foam seat;

• Knife or scissors;

• Width;

• Sandpaper;

Method of manufacture:

1. Put the chosen reel on old newspapers, to not make everything dirty, and then clean it well and treated with sandpaper, if necessary. Spray it from all sides with spray paint in the color you want. If you want and you are skillful, then you can draw and some pictures on the reel. For example, if you decide to use our idea of mushroom, then you can draw a grass at the base of the stalk.

2. Using the knife (or scissors) cut the foam circle with the size of the reel seat. Then do three more rounds, all of which should be one size smaller than the previous one, as shown below, to form the seat of your sponge.

3. Cut from your chosen fabric circle that must be larger than the seat, the indentation should be at least ten centimeters difference on the size of the seat, i.e. you can then make the upholstery of your seat. If you decide to imitate a forest mushroom, then we suggest you to choose a fabric that is red with white spots. Remember, that the more foam pieces you put, the denser will be your seat on the stool.

4. Stretch the fabric on all sides and start to pin it well on all sides with upholstery stapler, remembering at the same time to straighten well. We encourage you to pinch the fabric first in four pillars, and then you can deal with the other.

5. Using scissors cut the excess tissue that remained, to not sticks. Be sure to pinch the edges with extra glue to be more aesthetic your stool. If you have not painted the stalk at the beginning, then you can do so now. If you want your stool to be moving, then you can mount the wheels at the bottom.
