Five Important things to know about Air Filters at Home

Air Filters play an important role in our air conditioning system. You may have overlooked its importance, but every time you think about indoor air quality and conditioning, the first thing that comes to your mind is air filters.

Contacting qualified personnel to install the system is crucial. This will help curb future failure of the system, which may prove fatal. Proper maintenance and repair is significant to ensure efficiency as well as the long lifespan of the system. So to help you out with that, here are five things you should know about air filters.

Air filters require frequent replacement

Air filters need to be changed often. This is because failure to replace the air filter will result to catastrophic failure, which can cost you a lot of money to repair. When dirt accumulates in the air filter, airflow gets restricted. This in turn contributes an additional strain on the air handler. Prolonged working hours and the persistent strain causes the system to overheat and ultimately result into failure.

Air filters come in different sizes

Air filters range from small to big, easy to operate to complicated ones. Most homes are fitted with a standard air filter, though there may be some exceptions. Most of the time, 20x20x1 ac filters will do for both standard residential homes and commercial premises. Furthermore, air filters come in different types. When purchasing the right air filters, you should not only prioritise efficiency, but also the viability of your air filter.

Air filters have efficiency ratings

To get the best air filter, you need to check the minimum efficiency rating value of the filter (MERV) while still at the store. The rating normally range from one to sixteen. The ranking will determine how effective is the filter is when it comes to trapping and holding on to the dust. Another important fact is that air filters are made to protect the air conditioning system, and not the individual person’s respiratory system.

Normal paper filters don’t trap allergens

Paper filters are made to trap large dust particles. Minute particles like pollen grains, bacteria and fungi may not be trapped and hence find their way into the house. Paper filters are only meant to protect the motor and fans from accumulation of dust. High energy particulate air filters are fabricated to trap dust and even allergens. Purchasing the wrong filter will result to allergens being blown into your interior personal space.

A high rating doesn’t always mean it’s good

It is almost obvious that the best rating will give the best air quality. This may prove otherwise because the glass fibers are closely packed. This may result to overheating due to strain on the ac mortar. Instead choose an air filter that matches the requirements of your cooling system.

The health of occupants at your home or office premises depends greatly on the air that they breathe. Incorporating regular air filter changes in your daily life routine will save a lot of money while preventing diseases. Investing in quality will not only improve efficiency but also protect you from allergens. Consulting with professionals will make you buy the right size for the right air. This will help prevent future breakdown. Finally, proper maintenance should be a frequent routine.
