Futuristic Solutions For Home Security

Posted by: Founterior , October 25, 2017

The technology industry is flourishing and bringing with it innovations in home security. For the vigilant home-owner, there are a myriad of new solutions to choose from to keep your home safe. Plus, the security industry is booming too, so you can be sure to get good prices. Home security is still an issue in the U.S., and specifically in the state of New York, with a property crime rate of 13 per 1000, as reported by the Division of Criminal Justice. Therefore you cannot go wrong with installing a home security system – and you’ve got lots of options at hand.

Tried And Trusted Methods

Before we get onto the techy stuff, we have to give a word over to the classic, tried-and-tested methods. Homeowners continue to use a range of innovations from previous eras that are sturdy, effective and future-proofed. For instance, there’s a reason that reliable CCTV surveillance systems have endured. You can’t go wrong with a good quality burglar alarm, either, especially on quieter streets where neighbors and police will be alerted in split seconds. These items have seen so much innovation over the years that they come in a range of shapes, sizes and colors that any home can benefit and integrate them.

Drones

Drones are the hallmark of enthusiasts and hobbyists. However, the explosion in their interest has seen new applications for the ‘bots, with everyone from the government to prison contraband smugglers using drones. The home security industry is no different, and companies have started producing drones that patrol the halls of your house when asked to, or on set schedules after hours. A supremely high-tech deterrent and one that will definitely terrify the life out of any would-be burglar.

‘Spy’ Cameras

The problem with CCTV systems is the cameras, despite efforts to make them more compact, can still stick out like a sore thumb to would-be burglars and disabled/covered up. Step in Tovnet, a South Korean innovation comprising a security camera inside a lightbulb. This can provide an easily hidden security system inside your home without compromising any style or architectural designs you’ve set.

Internet for Protection

With the above innovations you can protect the physical. But what about the aspects of your life held in the ether, that is the internet? Integration of homes onto the ‘internet of things’(IoT) – where every aspect of your home life is interconnected via the web – is becoming more common. Progress is slow but steady, but acquisitions in the technology market is aiming to make smart homes become the norm. Security companies have taken note, too, and this year the first bespoke IoT security system was released for consumer homes. Aiming to provide multi-layered security, these security systems will be to the advantage of any homeowner looking to get ahead of crooks.

Technology is seeping into the home, with several space-age sounding innovations becoming part of the regular makeup of the home. That being said, older methods are still very, very effective, and it will be interesting to see how the  two methods interact in the future.
