Listening Room by MAT Studio and Elastik

Listening room is an installation specifically designed for the Tokyo Designers Week . The idea of Joy Ride Enterprises is realized by MAT Studio and Elastik  and, after the installation was visited by 4 000 people during the exposition in Japan, it will also be shown in Europe.
In the room, the visitor keeps the visual connection with the surrounding world, while being isolated from outside sounds. MAT Studio and Elastik transform a shipping container to a special place where one stays alone with… the music.
Fifteen speakers are oriented towards the listener’s seat and the acoustic panels are shaped to direct the audio waves to his sofa. The design and the materials that are used entwine into a whole as the acoustics and soundproofing principles are taken in account.
