Before starting the project Stella Verbrugge and Joeri van Zwoll knew that they will have a lot of work to do, if they want to reconstruct and breath life into this gorgeous three-story house, built in the mid 19th century in the town of Rotterdam, Netherlands. Actually, they didn’t work alone. The professional contractor and architect Dimitri Kruithof joined their team and shared his know-how for contemporary home interior design. The collaboration turned out to be mutual for both sides and the job was no longer and obligation but a real fun.
It took around 3 weekends for the team of the enthusiast to achieve the authentic outlook of a loft. A special attention was paid to the bricks in the walls, so that they could look not like demolished but more like a stylish part of the interior. The purpose of the whole project was to create a cozy atmosphere that will be a neat place for living. That’s why the homeowners decided to use oak floorboards so that the loft wont look sterile. If you look carefully, you will notice the perfect balance between raw dynamic lines, bricks and rustic wood.
In fact, the result they have achieved is remarkable. Usually lofts are situated in residential buildings with a lot of households. However, this project was designed to fit a small house. In other words, they brought the traditional loft interior into the house.
