Kurt Beier founded Bullfrog in 1997. Before to start to design upholstered furniture, he studied at the Porcelain College in Selb. Even now, you can feel the hint of his background in the sofas and chairs that his company create. In the first years of his work experience, he was head of design in big furniture manufacturer. Nevertheless, he wanted to have more freedom in the design that is why he decided to create his own label.
Bullfrog evolved gorgeously and simultaneously expanded with several more production sites. They opened an airy glamorous glass building for the service division. Every company is independent and they employ more than one hundred workers in the whole Europe.
The original name of the company is “Kruetn”, meaning toad. But Krut’s American business partner translated it “Bullfrog”. The name of the company is truly unusual and it was born of the sound of laughter.
This company is unusual in many ways: the Bullfrog sells far more than half of its upholstered furniture for India, Arabia, Switzerland, and also Kurt involves the young generations as co-partners. The company invest and trust to young people. Bullfrog has been benefitting from Kati Quinger’s designer eye, since she was a student. During 2000s, Forester Jan Beier joined the firm and he is now responsible for the service firm and design studio.
