Whether you’re moving into a new home or thinking about redecorating and sprucing up a home you’ve been living in for years, each and every choice you make when it comes to your home’s interior is important. While flooring may not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of your home’s interior design, the flooring you choose will make a big difference in both the look and feel of your whole house.
When it comes to choosing the perfect flooring for your home, there are so many options out there that it can be a bit overwhelming. Every material has its advantages and disadvantages. You want something that looks and feels good, but is also cost-effective. For something that meets both of those requirements, we recommend vinyl flooring.
Vinyl flooring has become very popular, mainly because it’s one of the most inexpensive types of flooring. It provides great value, especially when you’re thinking about adding or changing the flooring throughout your entire home. Aside from the price, vinyl flooring is a great option for many reasons:
The Cost:
Not only is vinyl one of the cheapest flooring options on the market, the price range for this material is also quite varied. You can find a simple, thin vinyl, a luxurious vinyl and pretty much everything else in between. If you want something a little nicer for a room you use often or a room with a lot of foot traffic, but a cheaper option for a bathroom or bedroom, you have a lot of options and a lot of flexibility. When compared to the cost of other flooring options such as wood, stone, or ceramic, the savings can be significant when choosing vinyl.
The Look and Feel:
Vinyl flooring is available in a wide range of colors, designs, and styles. It has become well known for its ability to replicate other textures and materials, such as hardwood, stone, and tile. While you may be able to tell the difference up close, it’s very hard to decipher it from any other material from afar. This means that you can have “wood” floors, for example, in rooms that typically wouldn’t be very conducive to a wood floor, such as a bathroom! Not only that, vinyl is more comfortable than any of the other materials. It feels soft beneath your feet and you can stand on it for a long time without feeling any discomfort because it’s typically backed by a thin layer of foam or felt.
The Practicality:
Vinyl flooring is durable, water-resistant, scratch-resistant, and easy to clean. This makes it great for kitchens, bathrooms, and basements, as you don’t have to worry about water damage or mildew. It’s very resistant to scratches and stains and is one of the easiest flooring types to clean. All you need to do is occasionally sweep up any dirt or dust and then run a mop over the floor. That’s it! Finally, vinyl flooring is so durable that many manufacturers include warranties with their products of 15 years, or more. Are you ready to sign up yet?
The Installation:
Vinyl flooring is easy to install, even for the DIY homeowner. There are several different installation methods and styles, including sheets, tiles, and planks. Depending on the style you choose, installation can be a breeze. Not only is vinyl flooring easy to install, it can be installed over concrete or wood, and usually also over a previous vinyl or linoleum as well. This means that there’s no floor demolition required, which is another huge time and money saver.
While vinyl flooring may have gotten a bad rap in the past, between its low cost, easy maintenance, variety of options, and more, it has become one of the hottest (and most practical!) flooring options out there – and for good reason!
