Balance Between Shape and Design
Andreu Belenguer’s modern furniture design astonishes with architectonic structure evoking a sense of absolute stability. All his projects achieve balance between a solid, at times even rough, general shape and fine detail. Harmony is also evident in the way the designer brings different materials together.
Andreu Belenguer was born in Valencia.
He graduated from Valencia College of Design in 1994. Following his graduation he became a co-founder of Codi Comunicacio i Disseny (Codi Communication and Design) studio.
Four years later he launched his own project – AND Design studio, which specialized in creating corporate image and style, interior, graphic and web design, signposting, as well as design and development of modern furniture design and furniture installations. The clients of the studio include hospitals, universities, theatres, museums, banks and companies such as Vodafone, Telefonica, Ziru and Teys. Belenguer describes his professional zeal as socially-engaged and directed towards the cooperation with companies and institutions in different areas of communication and design. The ultimate goal, in his words, is the creation of challenging projects, which intertwine unconventionality, flexibility and functionality. One of the last projects of AND Design, which came to prominence, is the Cosmo collection, comprising a chaise-lounge and a sidetable table and offered by Teys.
The two pieces of furniture are made from polyester resin, reinforced with fiberglass.
The lounge’s memorable shape is inspired by undulating and rhythmical movement of water waves.
