The problem may be electrical, plumbing, cracks, or leaks. Although there are things that you cannot do without a professional, there are those small bits that you can handle by yourself.
Imagine having to call a technician to place artwork on your wall. Don’t you think that you can tackle that alone? Most of the problems at home can be handled by homeowners. What happens is that most of them don’t have the know-how or they do not have the tools to do the job. Most of these renovation works are easy jobs that pay well for those that know how to do them.
Tools needed for DIY Jobs
1. A hammer
A hammer is one of the most used tools in carpentry. It is also used for riveting, bending metals, and upholstering. Imagine your coffee stool is loose and it is all shaky. Will you call a professional technician and part with a few dollars when you can nail it yourself?
2. Screwdrivers
Whether opening a child’s toy or any electronic appliance, you will need a screwdriver. Screw drivers come in different sizes and shapes. Some have magnetic tips to help ease your job. There are many varieties of screwdriver sets that allow you to choose the one that suits you.
3. Pliers
Pliers are one of the tools that a home should never lack. It can do many things, including bending wires, loosening nuts, straightening wires, holding pins in place, and many more. If you are doing a DIY project that requires fitting the pins, pliers will come in handy as they will help you grip the pins without hurting yourself.
4. Spanners
Spanners come in different sizes and shapes. Spanners are mainly used to loosen or tighten bolts, nuts, and fittings. Imagine your kitchen tap is dripping due to the underneath nut loosening. Is that sufficient reason to call a technician? All you have to do is tighten the nut and voila!!
5. A work light
A work light is often underrated. Most people think that a work light is not a tool but wait until you get a blackout. A good example is when there is a storm and no power. What would you do? Stay in darkness? What if you need to get in the crawl area under your house to fix something? What would you use to make the vision better?
6. Extension cord
An extension cord allows you to use electric power in whatever place in your home. For example, you can use the energy from the main house to your backyard patio. On the same note, if you need to weld a broken gate, you can easily do that because you have access to the power.
7. Tape measure
Anytime you have a DIY project, you need to have the exact measurements of the wood or metal you need. That is where the tape measure comes in. As the saying goes, measure twice to be sure and cut once.
8. A ladder
Do you need to fix a damaged bulb at home? Need to decorate your front door with Christmas lights? Need to cut some overhanging branches? Need to repair a leaking roof? Please note that all these are high areas, and you will need a ladder to work on each site.
9. A hacksaw
You will need a hacksaw to cut wood, plastic, and metal. Most projects at home will use these materials and require you to have a hacksaw. For home projects, a miter saw, or a hand saw is ideal.
10. Utility knife
At one point or another in your DIY renovations for your home, you will need to cut something. That is where the utility knife comes in. It is used to cut wallpapers, insulation material, plastic, paper, sponge, and anything that requires cutting.
