BBB
BBB was born in the 50’s – a time when the development of technological research in italian design was at its peak.. Part of the big names that have worked for it are the brothers,Paolo Reran, Carlo Santi, Italo Lupi. The progress of the firm during the past decades followed the specifics of the separate periods.
What they offered in the 60’s reflected the main currency of design at that time – the animation on the until-then fixed space at home. Multifunctionality was then favoured. The BBB collections from those years embodied the lively, optimistic, non-conformist spirit of the time – Jonathan he Pas. Donato D’Urbino, Paolo Lomazzi and the Castiglioni brothers created furniture, which could be arranged in different configurations in service of variety and maximum efficiency.
In the 70’s me home became a territory on which everyone was free to create their own personal concept. Design was led by the complete provocation and playful irony. What was created by Jonathan de Pas, Donato D’Urbino and Paolo Lomazzi presented ironically inflated and “muscular” arm chairs, which were nevertheless light and very mobile, modular shelves and sofas which were easily turned into unpretentious lounge chairs. Castigilioni recreated this spirit of informality with remarkable ease in his system o‘ tables., desks and bookshelves achieving a synthesis of strict minimalism and pleasant comfort.
The next decade came with the establishment of a look inspired by the avant-garde. BBB. continued to use clear shapes without abandoning the elements of playfulness and surprise, in the projects of the time contrast was favoured -we find combinations of natural wood and vivid textile, of light constructions with Today tire collections of the company continue to offer designs cheated in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s along with the latest furniture. What has turned many of those designs into classics was not only their endurance in time but their ability to exist in every environment, all over the word.
