There are many places all over the world where traditions are kept just the way they were hundreds of years ago.In Sanjo, Niigata, landscape garden designers were extremely honored for their abilities to transform the outdoor home spaces into a cultivated area. Now in this region you can see how the tradition continues its presence taken to the next level at the same time. Each tree that has been planted in the surrounding area of this gorgeous Hasegawa House has been carefully nurtured by the people living here. They did their best to follow the architecture of the house and match the surrounding greenery with its design, manipulating the shapes of the vegetation nearby and thus achieving a remarkable landscape design.
To begin this story of traditions we have to note that the project of the place is designed to be similar to “waka” (Japanese Poem). A separation of all the components and their unification in different contexts, depending on the scenery, is the key feature of the contemporary house and the residential landscape design. In order to achieve this difficult task, the trees had been collected from different mountains. After that, they were planted in specific positions in so that they could complete the picturesque scenery that opens its brilliance when standing at the house.
All the greenery is arranged in such a way, so that when the moon moves over the horizon and the night sky, the moving shadows of the trees start painting their own game of colors and shapes. You must be there and feel the electrical atmosphere that nature creates governed by the Japanese traditions. There is one more spectacular change that one can observe. The ups and downs towards the mountains create unique and lively picture that shows its beauty over the seasons in a dynamical and breath-taking ever changing cycle of dreams…
