Functional Contemporary Interior Solutions with Wall Built-In Beds

Wall beds, or the so called Murphy beds, can save you plenty of space! During my years of studying interior design, I found out that these functional beds are great for two major things:

1. To be applied in modern small apartments (mostly in Europe and Japan), where space is usually a thing to consider;
2. To be applied for creative interiors, when the homeowners want to display creative solutions, no matter what the size of their living area is.

Having in mind these two options you can easily decide whether to use beds installed in wall or not. Well, I find them really gorgeous for modern and contemporary apartments that are designed in the IKEA style. On the other hand, I can’t even imagine a classic or traditional expensive mansion with those type of beds. They just simply don’t go there. I have also found that kids are crazy for Murphy beds. If you have a boy and want to surprise him with creative idea for his birthday, or just without any special occasion, be sure that those kind of wall beds are just a hit in the center.

Wall beds and Murphy Beds Ideas

During my research I came upon some very attractive design examples and you will be able to clearly enjoy them in the image collection below. I really like the idea of having a bed hidden inside one of the walls in my bedroom and I also like some additional functionalities, like being able to use the bed frame as a small couch while the bed is being folded against the wall. In these cases beds are not actually hidden, but they are more like sofas that can easily be transformed into a bed when unfolded from the wall. No matter what is the design of the sleeping place, I find them really functional and practical, especially for those who live in small homes. These are usually young families or newly met couples as well as young singles who like to live the dynamic lifestyle of urban life. Well, there is an exception from every rule and, as I have already said, these ideas are very, very useful when you want to surprise a kid, for example.
