Must-have Amenities for a New Apartment

Posted by: Founterior , September 23, 2018

When you’re apartment searching, it can be easy to settle for something that fits some of your criteria. You’re in a time crunch or you like the neighborhood, so you are flexible with some of your other needs or desires. Unfortunately, that can come back to bite you, especially if you have a long lease term. You might not even consider a few amenities that will make your life easier on a day to day basis. That’s why we’ve compiled the list below to get your apartment search started right.

  1. In-Unit Washer and Dryer

Until you live without an easily accessible washer or dryer, you don’t truly understand how much of a sacrifice it is to be without. Long, expensive trips to the Laundromat can eat up time and money, especially if you have a family. The average $20 and 3 hours a week adds up to $80 and half-a-day wasted. If you can’t walk directly to the laundry room or basement, you should keep looking.

  1. A Fitness Center

You need more than just a few free-weights and an elliptical. A luxury apartment home should boast a large gym with a yoga room, machines, and cardio area. A gym directly in your apartment can save you $40 or more a month on membership fees.

  1. Hardwood Flooring

Stylish hardwood floors have been popular throughout history, and they aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. They’re easy to clean, easy to protect, and look incredible. They’re a surefire way to create a luxurious look that will boost the desirability of an upscale apartment.

  1. Ample Parking

If you’ve ever lived in an apartment complex without enough parking, you’ll understand why lugging groceries in from street parking or a far-away spot can be taxing—every day. Bike riders should also keep an eye out for bike racks nearby.

  1. Spacious Storage

I don’t know about you, but I always find myself running out of room. An extra storage locker in the basement can go a long way. Make sure the locker is free from water damage before you start storing expensive furniture or priceless memorabilia.
