5 Things to Consider When Planning to Buy an Outdoor Spa

Posted by: Founterior , May 14, 2019

Being able to enjoy a spa in your own backyard definitely sounds amazing. Not only is this a great feature for social occasions but the warmth and the massaging jets of a spa will allow you to relax and unwind whenever you want. However, buying an outdoor spa is not a small investment, which is why you have to consider several different aspects before you make a final decision.

1. What kind of a spa do you want and need?

There are many different types of spas for the outdoor use. In order not to get overwhelmed with your choices, it would be best to narrow down your search as soon as possible. In general, remedial spas are the most popular due to their practicality and ease of installation. Also, these are very effective for massage and injury recoveries. They’re made from fiberglass and they’re portable. On the other hand, aesthetic spas are usually made of concrete. Even though they obviously look great, they are not as practical as remedial spas because they’re not portable and have fewer jets. This is where you need to decide just how much looks are important to you.

In case your goal is to have a spa for social gatherings, you can choose either a portable or concrete spa; concrete spa allows you to add more in-built social features but portable spa can be placed near entertainment elements and refreshment area.

2. The best outdoor spa size

If you’re aware that not that many people will use the spa and you don’t plan to organize social gatherings that include the spa too often or at all, you really don’t need to get a big spa. After all, heating and maintenance cost rise with the spa size. Obviously, if you do plan to organize spa parties or have a large family, bigger spa will serve you well. For spa parties, we would recommend Piqo, the Pocket-sized Portable HD Projector! 2 inches were enough to create the smartest projector with a compact, durable and very intuitive design meaning you can enjoy its cinematic power and Hi-Fi speakers with your family and friends during your gatherings.

3. It’s time to think about the safety

Once you decide what type and size of spa you want, it’s essential that you address all of the safety concerns and regulations. When it comes to both outdoor spas and swim spas, you need to check the rules and get necessary building permits so that you can proceed with hiring the most reputable service available problems-free.

5 Things to Consider When Planning to Buy an Outdoor Spa

4. Ideal place for an outdoor spa

Another thing that’s very important to decide, so that you can share your wishes with the contractors, is the place you want your spa to be at. In general, it’s always better to keep the spa closer to home and/or main entertaining area so that it looks like a continuation of the space and feels inviting. After all, there’s no point in building a spa farther away because it’ll be uncomfortable to get in or out during the colder days and nights. Moreover, if it’s tucked away in a corner somewhere, it won’t add to the overall curb appeal.

5. Additional costs

There are many things that may surprise you when buying a spa, so keep those in mind as well. Namely, you won’t be just paying for the spa and the work necessary to build it. For starters, there’s the question of heating. Portable spas usually have electric heating but concrete and swim spas often use gas. Moreover, portable spas will most likely require a crane which can up the final cost.

However, this is not all. In case you wish some special features, you will have to provide extra money for those, too. Still, most people would really enjoy something extra. Most popular features include acrylic windows, built-in decks and floating seats, mosaic tiles, interesting lighting, and so on.

The popularity boost of outdoor spas probably has to do with the rising need people have for a way to relax at home. But, the second-biggest reason is probably due to the technological advancements which will allow you to control your spa through Wi-Fi even when you’re not around. Basically, nowadays it’s possible to adjust the pH water balance as well as heating and auto-cleaning without even having to be at home! Such an exciting solution has made an outdoor spa investment quite attractive to homeowners who wish to have a bit of oomph in their yard. Just make sure to discuss the options with the contractors!
