The first place on our list is Barcelona, Spain. This city is home to some of the most iconic architecture in the world. Think of Antoni Gaudí’s La Sagrada Família or Park Güell. Gaudi fans will also love the Casa Batllo. This building features candy like accents such as its whipped-cream ceilings, swirling fireplaces, and delicate wrought-iron balconies.
Barcelona’s opera house is also called the Gran Teatre del Liceu, which is a must-see. The building has a tumultuous history, including two fires, the second as recently as 1994. The Liceu was then rebuilt even more lavishly than before with high marbled ceilings, lots of gilt, and red velvet accents.
Another great city for architecture lovers in Paris, France. This city is home to some of the most famous buildings in the world, including the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral. In addition, you will find a variety of different architectural styles represented in Paris.
Some other famous architectures in Paris include the Louvre Pyramid, Arc de Triomphe, and Sacré-Cœur. The Louvre Pyramid, which is used as an entrance to the Louvre museum, has the same proportions as The Great Pyramid of Giza. Three smaller pyramids accompany the main pyramid. They have been positioned to create different light shafts to access each museum’s collections.
Next on our list is Florence, Italy. This city is known for its incredible Renaissance architecture. Some of the most famous buildings in the world are located here, including the Duomo and the Palazzo Vecchio. Florence also has several bridges that are worth admiring, such as the Ponte Vecchio.
The Duomo, or Florence Cathedral, is one of the largest churches in the world. It is also one of the most iconic buildings in Florence. The cathedral is made up of pink, white, and green marble. It took over 140 years to build and was completed in 1436.
