Matching Your Home Decor to Your Fashion Style

Posted by: Founterior , November 6, 2019

Finding a particular style of interior design is often something people spend a great deal of time worrying about. You obviously live in your home and spend many hours there every day, but you also bring family and friends over to visit.

When you host parties or holiday gatherings, showcasing your style is important! You want everyone to think your home is unique and welcoming, but most importantly, you want everyone to know it’s yours.

This might seem daunting, but an easy way to accomplish this is to match your design to your fashion sense!

Phone Cases

Phone cases are a great way to get inspiration for designing your home since they come in many designs and styles. You want your home to reflect who you are and your style. Take a look at your phone case to gain a little inspiration. Casely iPhone Cases is a great example of this. Browsing their site, you’ll notice they offer cases that have clean lines, bright colors, patterns, something trendy – anything imaginable. Which one calls out to you?

Take a close look at your phone case – is it simple? Bright? Does it have a bold pattern? These are all pointing to styles you can use in interior design. For example, say you have a black and white marbled phone case. This doesn’t necessarily mean you need to incorporate marble into your home, although that is obviously an option that you have and one you’ll most likely enjoy.

Shoes

Shoes, believe it or not, can also provide insight into your home designs. Shoes have the potential to be a complicated purchase. They have to be wearable, comfortable, and versatile. Most of us don’t have a different pair of shoes for every outfit or every specific task, so it’s important to find a pair or two that fit most of your needs at once.

This process is also similar to selecting design elements for your home. As everyone knows, interior design choices aren’t based completely on appearance. A couch might look aesthetically pleasing, but is it comfortable? Is it the correct size for your family? The blend between aesthetic and practicality that you use when choosing a pair of shoes can easily be applied when designing your home.

Style wise, paying attention to the shoes you prefer is also important. Are there certain colors you gravitate to? How about patterns or textures? These translate easily to interior decor and can make the process of choosing pieces more streamlined.

Jewelry

Designing a room is actually very similar to picking out an outfit. Start with the foundation items like a couch, some chairs, or a table. When picking out an outfit, these would be a pair of jeans, a sweatshirt, or a jacket. Then you layer in smaller decorative items like lamps and rugs (or a pair of shoes or scarf for your outfit). Then, you will finally add the finishing touches. In your home, these would be decorations, but in terms of your personal style, this would mean jewelry.

Much like with phone cases, jewelry comes in every style, color, or design possible. It’s helpful to consider what type of jewelry you gravitate towards when choosing the finishing touches for your home. If your style is bright and eclectic, choosing statement or even custom pieces for your home would match that aesthetic.

Summary

Matching your home decor to your fashion style is a great way to ensure your home is reflective of your personality. Look to things like your favorite pair of shoes, jewelry, and even your phone case to inspire you.
