“I think that the local culture still outweighs in present design. On the other hand, in the globalized world trends spread fast and have global validity. They might lead to certain standardization in design but trends play only a minor role in the design process. More important inputs such as craft, traditions and culture are locally rooted. They are important sources of inspiration and differentiation. Although many designers leave their home country to work in big “design clusters”
I think that they still keep their roots. I have got this experience while studying at the Royal College of Art. At the RCA, the students come from all over the world. Looking at their work, I think that origin remains an important asset for diversity in design.“
