Living Room Couches for a Cozy and Functional Room
Posted by: Founterior , November 7, 2014

Couches has always been inspiring interior designers to express their imagination in placing them in extravagant areas as well as choosing very attractive, concept or traditional shapes in order to put the accent on them – either by creating visual contrast using the style method, or by picking vivid or pale colors in order to distinguish them from the rest of the interior.

For us, ordinary people, couches are a great way to have a rest after the long day at work. They are great because you can comfortably sit and watch TV or surf via your smartphone or tablet. You can also have a quick snack sitting on the couch, as well as the, probably the most common activity, to have a quick afternoon or evening nap.

So, let’s get closer to this essential living room couches and find what and how we can use them in our homes.

Living room couches ideas

The best thing you can do is placing the couch in the middle of the room with its back against the door and the TV in front of the couch. This way you will separate two functional areas – one is the transition area behind the couch which the homeowners and their guests can use to reach the other rooms and the front area – the place where you actually do your every day activities. It needs to be separated because… well, imagine somebody crossing your eye contact with the TV every time he needs to go the bathroom, for example. Or your kids playing at the rug near your coffee table and your guests that need to pass through all the toys just to reach the kitchen or any other room. It’s just not comfortable!

The other option is the lay the couch’s back to one of the walls of your room. This way you will be able not only to save a lot of space but you will also can decorate your wall in its part above the couch. Actually, this is a really functional idea if you are living in a small apartment or any other type of tiny property. There are some really fine decorating ideas for living rooms using bookcases that you can use for completing the area around the couch. Living room couches and chairs

The other option is to also add different kind of chairs, stools and ottomans near the living room couches. Well, this idea also has some kind of requirements – you will need more available space since all of them take a piece from your free area. Personally, I really like soft stools with the same upholstery like the couch. This is a really handy when you have guests and play scrabble for example because all of the participants have the opportunity to sit comfortable while enjoying the game.
